FROM THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS IN MEXICO CITY comes the incomparable Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández in a gala production commemorating two milestones in Mexican history-the country's Bicentennial Celebration of its Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. In this historic presentation, 70 stunningly talented dancers and musicians will appear on stage in dazzling costumes that contrast with decorative backdrops of scenes such as a Mexican plaza, a lush tropical setting, or an Aztec sun. The most prestigious ambassador of Mexican culture on the planet today, the Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández is unsurpassed for its mesmerizing collage of whirling skirts and incredulous foot-stomping. Add to this artistic canvas a musical parade of familiar mariachi and popular rhythms that have seduced both Mexican and non-Mexican audiences alike, and the result is a performing arts spectacle that rivals the best Broadway production.
