You may or may not have noticed by I am starting a photography group for people who want to learn about photography. I would like some feedback as to what topics most of you would like to know about, so that I may setup a syllabus and outline for lessons.

Thanks,

Hello Mark--
So, did you ever get the Photography Group started?
I like taking pictures-- and I want to know what kind of camera you would recommend for an amateur like me? I don't want anything too expensive or professional, just something that will give me good pics-- under $300. Right now I have a Konica Minolta 5.0 megapixel. I bought it 4 years ago and paid $150-- so I know I can do a lot better on the megapixel, but what other things should I look for?

Thanks for your help.

Hi G.M.,

We will be starting the group up soon. We had started a bit back, but stopped it while we worked on the studio. Now that the studio is up and running we will be starting classes with a tentative date of Aug 6th which I believe coincides with the ArtHop in Down Town. Please join our photo group site to keep posted. www.adlphotogroup.ning.com

As for what type of camera for under 300.00. Well, I personally like the Canon’s PowerShot SD780 12.1 MP with Optical Stabilizer if you're looking for a point and shoot. I also like the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000. This point and shoot camera has a metal body and is supposed to be waterproof and shockproof. It is also a 10.1 megapixel camera with optical zoom. Well at least that's my opinion.
